The trail-blazing Moving into Dance Mophatong (MIDM) Performance Company was founded in 1978 by Sylvia
"Magogo" Glasser as a non-racial dance company and training organisation, during the height of apartheid.
Dance was used as a form of cultural resistance to apartheid. At the basis of all the work was the concept
of integration - integration of people as well as the integration of African and Western cultures.

Ayoba! MIDM!

Today the final day of the 2010 World Cup, I was privileged to be part of
what proved to be one of the highlights of my three decade experiences at
Moving into Dance Mophatong. (MIDM). What was the cause of this excitement?
It was one of those moments where one meets a celebrity who turns out to be unassuming, genuinely impressed by what he sees and actually takes the time to not only thank those involved at MIDM but actually dances, hugs and shakes hands with all of us. The celebrity? None other than FIFA's Sepp
Blatter. The occasion? MIDM Performing Arts Training Course students were performing for Mr Blatter at Auberge Michel, the renowned French restaurant, in the heart of Sandton.

Thanks to Kefiloe Morand, the Development Manager of MIDM... Thank you Mr Blatter, thank you Michel, and thank you MIDM students!
