Meet Our Dancers

24 Year old Lesego was born in Mafikeng, North West Province. Her dance career began with her training in Potchefstroom, after years of involvement in arts and culture at school.
In 2013, Lesego auditioned for the Indigo Theatre Drama for her NQL 4. She received her regional colours, competing within the Northern Cape Sport Aerobic Foundation and then went on to represent the Northern Cape at the South African Fitness and Hip Hop Nationals in Cape Town. After joining the Mayibuye Dance Academy, she joined Moving into Dance Mophatong in 2013. She has worked with a range of choreographers, including Alfred Hinkel, Sifiso Kweyama, Sbonakaliso Ndaba and Bheki Ndlovu. Lesego was involved in both Connections 1 & 2 and performed at the Africa Day Concert.
Lesego participated in the Integrated Dance Colloquium, hosted in Durban by Flatfoot Dance Company, and performed in “Stone Cast Ritual” by Sylvia Glasser and “Art Art Life” by David Gouldie in Dance Umbrella 2018.
She is also passionate about integrated dance, working with and including people with disabilities. Trained by Gladys Aghulhas, she teaches within this community.
Lesego performed at the Sibikwa Dance Xplosion 2015, working with choreographers Sunnyboy Motau, Motlatsi Khotle and Sussera Olyn. As a choreographer, she performed her solo “When I was Missing” at the Wits So Solo Festival, and the Enable through Dance 1st Piece with Gladys Agulhas. She also choreographed “Part of Me”, which she performed at the Sibikwa Dance Xplosion 2017 and the Dance Umbrella 2018 New Dance programme.
